Krzysztof Wisniewski, violin
Born in Poland into a family of musicians, his father is his first teacher. He continued his studies with Oscar Ruppel, a direct student of Eugène Ysaÿe. He graduated from the Frederic Chopin Academy in Warsaw with Krzysztof Jakowicz and Oleg Krysa.
He has been part of the Warsaw Chamber Orchestra and also of the Polish Chamber Philharmonic, with which he has made numerous tours around the world. From 1991 to 2009 he was assistant concertino of the Castile and Leon Symphony Orchestra.
He is invited as concertino in orchestras such as Camerata Ibérica, Symphony Orchestra of Castile and Leon, Bilbao Symphony, OBC, Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, Gran Canaria Philharmonic, Cadaqués Orchestra, Extremadura Orchestra, National Orchestra of Spain and World Orchestra for Peace, Philharmonic of Medellin and National Symphony of Colombia, country where, in addition, he has been teaching for many years.
He develops an intense chamber music activity in various groups, highlighting collaborations with the Bretó Quartet. From 2009 to 2018 he has been soloist of first violins of the National Orchestra of Spain. Since 2014 he has been part of the World Orchestra for Peace under the direction of Valeri Giergiev. From 2018 to 2020 he was concertmaster of the Orchestra of Extremadura. Since January 2021, he has been concertmaster of the Franz Schubert Philharmonic.
He has performed as a soloist with the National Orchestra of Spain, the Symphony Orchestra of Castile and Leon and the Philharmonic of Medellin performing W.A.Mozart's Concert Symphony. With the Orquestra d'Extremadura the double concert of J. Brahms. Orchestra of the Community of Madrid and with the World Orchestra for Peace.
Elena Rey, violin
Award-winning in various competitions, she has a career as a soloist and chamber musician that links her to a wide range of artists.
She currently collaborates as a guest concertmaster with orchestras such as the Asturias Symphony Orchestra, Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, Spanish National Orchestra, Extremadura Orchestra, Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra, Seville Royal Symphony Orchestra, Bilbao Symphony Orchestra, Valencia Orchestra. She has worked as a concertmaster/conductor with ensembles such as the Schubertiada Camerata and the Penedès Camerata.
Elena has been a member of the Dalia Quartet, Trio Lorca and the Cadaqués Orchestra, and is part of the Da Camera Orchestra (led by Alexander Janiczek, Peter Hanson and Antje Weithaas among others) and BCN216. She plays regularly with Funktion Ensemble, Crossing Lines, BandArt, a group led by violinist Gordan Nikolitch.
In the teaching field, she is regularly invited as a teacher in young orchestras such as the Jove Orquestra de les Comarques Gironines, Jove Orquestra Nacional de Catalunya, Jove Orquestra de la Comunitat de Madrid and Jove Orquestra Nacional d'Espanya. During the 2019/2020 academic year she has been a violin teacher at the Conservatory of Music of the Liceu in Barcelona.
Her interest in other musical genres leads her to collaborate with artists such as Sílvia Pérez Cruz or Alfonso de Vilallonga in projects that encompass various styles from flamenco to jazz, performing in Europe, South America and Asia in such emblematic places as the BlueNote in Tokyo.
Cristina Pozas, viola
Violist born in Valladolid, completed her higher studies in Music in Madrid and Amsterdam. A lifetime dedicated to orchestras and chamber music. He has been part of the Radio Televisión Española Orchestra, the Madrid Symphony Orchestra and the National Orchestra of Spain since 1995, where he has held the position of solo viola for twelve years.
He has collaborated with top-level Spanish orchestras. It is part of the World Orchestra of Peace, World Orchestra for Peace, under the baton of Valery Gergiev. He has also collaborated with the London Symphony and the Cadaqués Orchestra.
He has carried out a lot of chamber music activity, highlighting the performances with the Soloists of the National Orchestra of Spain and the Leipzig Quartet.
In her teaching work within the orchestral field, she has been a teacher of the Joven Orquesta Nacional de España, Iberacademy in Medellín (Colombia) and the Jove Orquestra de les Comarques Girona since 2011.
Laura Peribáñez, cello
Born in Barcelona, she debuted at the age of 9 at the Auditori de Barcelona and since then has performed extensively in numerous venues in Spain and Europe. Trained in Barcelona, Brussels and London, throughout her career she has received recognition and support from institutions such as Hattori Foundation, Drake Calleja Trust and the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya. In 2020 she won 3rd prize in the Juventudes Musicales de España string competition and a Banc Sabadell scholarship awarded by the British Spanish Society to pursue an Artist Diploma at the Royal College of Music, an institution that has awarded her the Antonio Brosa prize.
He has performed and recorded for Decca, Classic FM and participated in festivals such as Barcelona Obertura Spring Festival, IMS Prussia Cove or Cello Biënnale Amsterdam. The 2023/2024 season highlights a concert tour in memory of legendary cellist Pau Casals with the Jove Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona and conductor Carlos Checa, performing as soloist at London's Cadogan Hall, Vic's Atlántida and the Palau de la Música Catalan from Barcelona.
He carries out his professional work in the United Kingdom in collaboration with the Institut Ramon Llull, Instituto Cervantes and the Spanish Embassy in the United Kingdom. He has performed at the United Nations Palace in Geneva and has starred in the institutional video of the Palau de la Generalitat de Catalunya. This summer, Laura joins the faculty of the Chamber Music by the Lake course in Blonay, Switzerland.
He was a member of the JOCG in 2011 and 2012.
Julio Pastor, double bass
Double bassist and teacher, he is assistant soloist in the National Orchestra of Spain and professor at the Superior Conservatory of the Basque Country "Musikene" and Forum Musikae. Trained in Spain and Italy with teachers such as Josep Hernández, Paolo Borsarelli and Luis Cabrera.
He has been a full member of prestigious youth orchestras such as Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, EUYO and JONDE, and has collaborated with prominent national and international groups such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. In 2017 he was awarded the Alicante Concert Society Award.
He is also the founder of the Contrabass Days, a leading educational project at the National level.
Marta Torres, flute
Born in Girona, she completed the Professional Degree in flute with Esteve Zulet at the Isaac Albéniz Conservatory in the same city and participates in different ones young orchestras, such as the JOCG, the JOAG or the JONC, among others, which offer you a first contact with quality orchestras, training with international musicians.
He trained with Christian Farroni at the Liceu de Barcelona Conservatory of Music, with Karl-Heinz Schütz and with Alexandra Uhlig at the MUK University in Vienna, where he completed his Master of Orchestral Instruments studies with the highest qualifications . He wins the Summer Academy of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, which gives him the opportunity to work with musicians from one of the most internationally renowned orchestras, offering concerts in Austria and thus participating in the famous Salzburger Festspiele.
Having won different prizes in the categories of soloist and chamber music, is the 2nd Spanish Youth Music Award in the soloist category —2019—, which leads her to make two tours throughout the State. Currently, combines concerts in international level collaborating with different orchestras, such as the Wien Klang Symphonie, the Victoria de los Ángeles Orchestra, the GIO Symphonia or the Orchestra Symphony of the Vallès, activity that combines with the concerts of "die Zauberflöten", Catalan-Austrian flute duet with Theresa Prem.
Dani Souto, oboe
Born in A Coruña, his training took place between Switzerland and France under Fabien Thouand, at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana; Jean-Louis Capezzali, at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne and Christian Schmitt, at the Conservatoire de Strasbourg.
At the orchestral level, he trained as an academic at the Real Filharmonía de Galicia, the Orchestra of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and, later, with the Berner Symphonieorchester in Switzerland.
He currently collaborates regularly with orchestras in Spain such as the Orquestra Sinfónica de Galicia, the Orquestra Sinfónica de Castilla y León or the Orquestra del Gran Teatre del Liceu, among many others; and at a European level with orchestras such as the Sinfonieorchester Basel and the Orchestra of the Irish National Opera, where he was a guest solo oboe during the 2022-2023 season.
His interest in chamber music is also relevant. He has performed with various chamber music groups, with special prominence given to the wind quintet and being a founding member of the Quinteto InVento. On the pedagogical side, he has collaborated as a professor of oboe and orchestral repertoire at the “Rafael Orozco” Higher Conservatory of Music in Córdoba and at the Liceu Conservatory.
Lluís Casanova, clarinet
Lluís Casanova Martínez finished his higher degree studies at ESMUC in 2016, in the field of classical and contemporary interpretation, specializing in clarinet, with Josep Fuster Martínez as his instrument teacher. In June 2018 he completed a master's degree in acting at the Maastricht Conservatory (Holland) with Roeland Hendrikx, obtaining the highest final grades with Cum Laude.
He is currently a member of the Franz Schubert Philharmonia orchestra (the 2021/2022 season will be his fourth as a member of the formation) and a founding member of the Bärhof Ensemble and Air Duo. From the 2021/2022 season, he is a regular collaborator of the Barcelona and National Symphony Orchestra of Catalonia (OBC). He is also the bass clarinetist at the Orlando Festival, a classical music festival in Kerkrade (Holland) where he also teaches chamber music masterclasses. He is currently a clarinet teacher at the Vic Municipal School of Music and Conservatory and participates with the La Caixa foundation with educational projects for schools and family programs.
In 2018 he won the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe scholarship and won second prize at the XVI Ecoparque de Trasmiera Chamber Music Competition (Santander).
He has been part of different youth orchestras in Catalonia such as the National Youth Orchestra of Catalonia (JONC) and the Youth Orchestra of the Girona Regions (JOCG). In 2015 and 2016 he was part of the academy of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra (MCO) and in 2017 he won the place of the academy of the Phiharmonie Zuidnederland orchestra (Netherlands).
In the summer of 2016, he began his concert activity as a soloist performing the Mozart concerto with the Youth Orchestra of the Girona Regions (JOCG). In 2021 he performed the absolute premiere of the work Nous Horitzons (work for solo clarinet, couplet and percussion) with the couplet Montgrins at the Masquefa Sona Bé Music Festival.
Clara Canimas, bassoon
Clara Canimas i Furcarà has studied at ESMUC with David Tomàs, Salva Sanchís and Guilhaume Santana. He has been part of the Youth Orchestra of the Girona Regions and the National Youth Orchestra of Catalonia.
Later, he participated as an academician in the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and collaborated professionally with the BOS, OBC, Banda Municipal de Barcelona, Orquestra de Cadaqués, Orquestra de Valencia, Gio symphony, Franz Schubert Filharmonia, Camerata Penedès, among others.
In the chamber world, he has played with the Murtra Ensemble and started his own projects forming the Bärhof Ensemble, Trio Capmany and SenArts Quintet, with which he won the 2nd prize in the international Carl Nielsen chamber competition.
Anna Ferriol, horn
She began her studies at the Conservatory of Music in his hometown. She continued at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya with Professor José Vicente Castelló, where she also participated in the DaCap wind quintet. Her career continued at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover, where she studied with Professor Markus Maskuniitty, completing a Master's degree in Music Performance in 2017.
In 2016, he was awarded an Academist position with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. He has participated in projects with the Hannover Opera Orchestra (Staatsoper Hannover), the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, the Royal Swedish Opera, and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
Since 2017, Anna Ferriol has been a horn player with the Swedish Symphony Radio Orchestra. She also frequently collaborates with the Stockholm Chamber Brass quintet.
In the educational field, she has taught at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC), the Glasgow Conservatorium, and the Birmingham Conservatorium.
Meritxell Lanau, brass
Meritxell Lanau Mas, born in Manresa, began her music studies at the age of six as a flutist at the Conservatory of Music in her hometown. At sixteen, she decided to change the flute for the trombone under the guidance of Jordi Masip and Francisco Palacios, and a year later she was already part of several young orchestras such as the JONC Alevines or the Jove Orquestra de las Comarques Gironines, among others.
In 2009 she moved to Valencia to study with the prestigious professor of trombone Carlos Gil at the Conservatory José Iturbi, which combined with the Academy of Trombone Spanish Brass trombone lessons with Juan Carlos Matamoros in Madrid.
Later, she moved to Barcelona to study at the Conservatori Superior del Liceu with Gaspar Montesinos, where she obtained her Bachelor Degree. Later, she continued her training with renowned trombonists such as Gilles Miller, Abbie Conan and Jacques Mauger.
Since her arrival in Barcelona, she collaborates regularly with several professional orchestras such as the Orquesta del Vallès, the Orquesta Nacional Clàssica d’Andorra, the Orquesta de Sant Cugat, Real Orquestra Sinfónica de Sevilla, Franz Schubert Filharmonia, among others.
She has been part of several chamber ensembles with which she has played in national and international festivals such as the Festival Internazionale Italian Brass Week, International Trombone Association, Valencia International Trombone Congress and collaborated with Joventudes Musicales throughout the territory.
Interested in teaching, she has been a teacher in several Youth orchestras and is currently a permanent teacher at the Symphonic Orchestral Academy of Barcelona. Since 2018 she has been a teacher at the Creu Alta Music School and Conservatory in Sabadell and the Pere Burés Music School in Rubí.
Pau Montané, percussion
Born in Vilanova i la Geltrú, he began his studies at the Municipal Conservatory of Music in this town. In 2012 he obtained his Professional Degree at the Liceu Conservatory with professors Juan Francisco Ruiz, Marc Cabero and Ivan Herranz. The Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation awarded him with a scholarship for promising young people, in its second edition. In May 2016, he completed his Higher Degree studies, specializing in Classical and Contemporary Percussion Performance at ESMUC under the tutelage of professors Miquel Bernat, Lorenzo Ferrándiz and Gratiniano Murcia.
He has received master classes from renowned percussionists such as Philippe Spiesser, David Friedman, Éric Sammut, Richard O'Donnell, Fernando Hashimoto, Emmanuel Sejourné and Nuno Aroso, among others.
He has also been a member of several young orchestras, such as the Jove Orquestra Nacional de Catalunya, the Orquestra de Joves Interprets dels Països Catalans and the Jove Orquestra de les Comarques Girona (2009-2013).
Professionally, he is currently solo timpanist of the Franz Schubert Philharmonia and a member of the Gio Symphonia. He also collaborates with formations such as the OBC, the Cadaquès Orchestra, the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vallès Symphony Orchestra, the Camerata Eduard Toldrà, the Terrassa 48 Orchestra and the Granollers Orchestra, among others others
Since the 2018/19 academic year he has been a percussion teacher at the Mestre Montserrat Municipal School and Conservatory of Music in Vilanova i la Geltrú.
Joan Valls, musician and doctor
Born in Barcelona in 1996, he began his musical training in Virtèlia and continued his studies at the Barcelona Conservatory of Music and Oriol Martorell, completing the Professional Degree in violin specialty with honours.
He is part of the staff of young orchestras such as JONC (Jove Orquestra Nacional de Catalunya), JOCG (Jove Orquestra de les Comarques Gironines) and JOIC (Jove Orquestra Intercomarcal de Tarragona) and wins the 1st prize in the category of Catalan Music in the competition Arjau in 2013 with Violeta Cubarsi. He participates in different musical projects, among which the collaboration with the String and Cobla Symphony Orchestra stands out.
He takes and passes the entrance exams for the Higher Degree in Music at ESMUC and at the Superior Conservatory of the Liceu where he is accepted and awarded a scholarship by the Ferrer Salat Foundation but chooses to start the degree in Medicine and continues his musical training with great violinists such as Eva Graubin, Gordan Nikolich, Tim Summers, Sarah Kapustin, Erzhan Kulibaev, Aitzol Iturriagagoitia, Ane Matxain and Helena Satué.
He finished his degree in Medicine at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and after taking the MIR exam, he got a place to do the Pediatrics residency at Hospital Sant Joan de Déu. Since he began his training, he has been bringing music to the hospital and combining two of his great passions by offering concerts to families and admitted patients.
This year, he makes his debut as a "Health Coach" with the Jove Orquestra de les Comarques Gironines where he had been one of the members in previous years.
